Welcome to money 101!
I’m here to teach you how to have more money in your life. If you you would like to make all the money you want, without doing anything, then you’re in the wrong place! I’m here to offer you reality, not feed you fairy tales.
The good news is that money is quite simple once you learn more about it. It’s not difficult to have more money, it just takes time, and therefore requires dedication, and persistence to the cause. Some people, myself included, find the process to be a lot of fun.
I’m going to start with the basics, therefore you’ll be reading things here that you already know, mixed with things that you don’t know. If you’d like to be on the same page, pay attention to it all!
Money is a unit of exchange. Everyone knows that you can get things that you want, such as a loaf of bread, or a haircut, or a place to live, by giving someone money. People forget the other part… you can get money, by giving people things that they want. Please pause here for a moment, and commit this definition to your memory.
That’s what money -is-, and this is how money -acts-: Money acts just like a person. If you treat it with respect, care for its needs, and pay attention to it… it will want to be around you. If you don’t do those things, it will find the first opportunity to leave.
Below is a checklist for reaching your financial goals.
You could follow this list from top to bottom, one item at a time. Alternatively, you could jump in at whatever point fits your current situation.
No matter how you do it, know that the basics are the foundation for everything else. The basics are creating an income, reducing oppressive debt, and getting a handle on your expenses.
I mention this, because certain things work better if you have the basics in hand… For example, it’s much easier to create a savings fund, or invest money, if you have an income. It can also be easier to improve your credit rating, if you’ve reduced any oppressive debt to comfortable amounts.
Each of these links will open a new page on that topic. Enjoy your financial adventure!
